Recurring Interpretive Volunteer

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Recurring volunteer at SAAN visitor information centers. Major Duties include but are not limited to:

· Staff the visitor center and/or one of the three other mission sites - Concepcion, San Juan, and Espada

· Greet visitors, answer the telephone, and provide information to visitors

· Rove the mission grounds

· Advise visitors of the rules of the park in order to protect themselves, other park visitors, and the natural & cultural resources

· Monitors for compliance, but does not enforce - seeks assistance from a Park Ranger to enforce

· Provide Resource Protection Messages, or Group Introduction Message, to groups of visitors who come in large numbers

Operational tasks include greeting park visitors and providing information on a wide variety of topics which may include: cultural and natural resources of the park, way finding, and local area information. The Volunteer answers the telephone, transfers calls, takes messages, provides basic site information, makes the visitor aware of the interpretive program schedules, answers walk in inquires, and assists in giving directions and answering a variety of routine questions
