Hope Horizon East Palo Alto is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Communications Intern to support the Director of Development and Communications. This role will focus heavily on content creation for our monthly newsletter, as well as other communications needs like donor relations, data management, and website updates. The Communications Intern will play a key role in engaging our community, keeping them informed of our programs, and highlighting the impact of our work. This position requires a commitment of 10-15 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Newsletter Creation: Lead the creation of our monthly newsletter, including drafting articles, curating content, and designing the layout. Work with the team to highlight key updates, program success stories, and donor impact.

  • Donor Communications: Help draft and manage donor communications, including thank-you notes, engagement updates, and personalized letters to foster stronger relationships with our supporters.

  • Content Development: Create written content for other communications channels such as website updates, social media, and fundraising campaigns.

  • Data Management: Clean up and organize donor and supporter data to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in communication and outreach.

  • Audience Segmentation & Strategy: Assist in strategizing around audience segmentation and communication channels to improve outreach and engagement efforts.

  • Campaign Support: Contribute to the creation and implementation of communications strategies for fundraising campaigns and events.

  • Website Support: Assist with content updates and maintenance for the organization’s website to ensure it remains current and relevant.

  • Analytics & Reporting: Track and report on the effectiveness of communication efforts, particularly the newsletter, providing insights for future strategies.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Development and Communications and the communications team to align communication efforts with the organization's broader goals and initiatives.

Description

Hope Horizon serves youth in the East Palo Alto community, meeting practical and spiritual needs through leadership training, spiritual development and life skills application. HH programs continue to grow and effectively serve over 200 youth participants each year in small group settings with individualized attention. Our programs are open to any youth in East Palo Alto, regardless of disability, race, religion or ethnic origin.
