Visitor Use Volunteer Position at the Russian Bishop's House
Overview
This volunteer opportunity will provide orientation, education, and assistance to the hundreds of visitors that visit the Russian Bishop's House daily in the summer. This volunteer support consists of at least 3 hours of volunteer time at the Russian Bishop's House front lobby 1 to 3 days a week. The volunteer provides brief orientation for the museum at the Russian Bishop's House and signs up visitors for free ranger guided tours of the historic spaces.
Length of Commitment
We are looking for volunteers that can commit to at least 3 hours of volunteer work 1 to 3 days a week (on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays) for 4 or more weeks between May and October 20th.
Qualifications
Candidates for this volunteer opportunity should have experience or skills in dealing with diverse visitors/customers, reflecting the visitors that visit Sitka National Historical Park in the summer. A background or interest in history is a plus.
Training and Development Provided
This volunteer opportunity comes with training and coaching in customer service, and optional training in interpretive techniques used by park rangers in the National Park Service. Career coaching for jobs or careers in public lands is available, should the candidate be interested.
