Spend time with Hospice Patients! Athens and surrounding cities
ORGANIZATION: Gentiva Hospice
Please visit the new page to apply.

Visit patients in the community and read a book, play games, listen and talk about their day, sing, run errands, there are so many opportunities! Volunteering to visit hospice patients allows the patient to have a friend outside of their family. You can offer them support, companionship, socialization, and family relief.
Many hospice patients live without seeing their family often. Someone may have a family that lives out of state or are disabled and do not have the transportation to see their family member. Visiting these patients gives them comfort and happiness that someone is there to talk and spend time with them when no one else can.
Several other patients live at home with a full-time caregiver, but many caregivers and family members do not want to leave the patient by themselves at home to run errands. Seeing a patient when the family member is close allows the caregiver to leave the home without any stress. Of course, it also makes the patient happy to have someone new to come see them and retell their stories, play games, or read. You can also run errands for caregivers that want to stay home with their loved one!

Description
Seeking caring hearts and helping hands for hospice patient volunteers..
We are Gentiva Hospice
If you’re looking to give your time to your community what better way than to care for the people who live near you?
Hospice patients sometimes just need someone to drop by and visit or give them a call and chat about the weather, our Veterans enjoy other Veterans talking about service they served and how times have changed, etc.
Our office staff enjoy extra hands to help keep things running smoothly and orderly.
Time is a precious gift. How do you share your gift? Who do you share your gift with?
