Schedule: Volunteer role, with flexible hours leading up to event. Must be available on the First Friday of each month for the event.
Compensation: This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
Description
The Homeless Garden Project (HGP), founded in 1990 in Santa Cruz, California, provides job training, transitional employment, and support services for people experiencing homelessness. Our community-focused programs take place on our 3.5-acre organic farm and through social enterprise, fostering sustainability, job development, and community engagement.
First Friday is a monthly event that highlights local artists, musicians, and community connections. We are seeking a dedicated and creative volunteer to help organize and lead our First Friday events at the Downtown Store. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for the arts, event planning, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
Curate Artists: Select and coordinate local artists to showcase their work at the event.
Book Local Musicians: Reach out to local musicians and coordinate live performances.
Coordinate Volunteers & Refreshments: Assign volunteers to prepare and serve beverages and samples during the event.
Event Logistics & Management: Ensure the event runs smoothly, acting as the point person on the day of the event.
Qualifications
Passion for community events, art, and music.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to coordinate and work with artists, musicians and volunteers.
Comfortable leading a team and managing event logistics.
Previous event planning experience is a plus, but not required.
