Location(s)

  • Practice locations may vary: Eagles Community Center, Webster Recreation Center, Jefferson Recreation Center, and some MPS sites (Carson, Kino, and EVA) *depending on the volunteer’s availability
  • Game locations: Ages (8-10) will play at Webster Recreation Center on Saturdays, ages (11-14) will play at Jefferson Recreation Center

Start Date

  • Practices begin the week of April 7th 2025 (Week 1 of games begin April 19th 2025)

End Date

  • The league ends on Saturday June 8th 2025

Frequency

  • 1 practice and 1 game a week for 7 weeks
  • 7 week commitment with 3 hours weekly (1 hour 30 min practice, 1 hour 30 min on gameday

Practice times

  • 6:00 - 9:00 PM

Volunteer Duties Description Details

· Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to practice and games to set up and stay at least 15 minutes after to tear down and ensure all participants are accounted for.

· Make sure you have the/ your necessary equipment to facilitate the practice and games.

· Keep daily attendance of your team and relay the names of any absentees to the Recreation Program or Recreation Specialist to follow up with participants. You are the main point of contact for your team.

· Call or e-mail the Youth Sports team at least 4 hours before your scheduled practice/ game if you are unable to make it. It is your responsibility to make sure your practice/game is covered, or all participants are notified of a cancellation.

· Create an open line of communication with Youth Sports staff, parents, players, and Youth Sports leads. Ensure that your contact information (email/phone #) is updated.

· Have a parent meeting at the first practice to explain the rules, discuss team expectations/goals, establish "Team Parent", or any additional volunteer coaches. Volunteer coaches must fill out our volunteer paperwork and pass background check before they can coach or assist.

· Develop daily lesson plans with age-appropriate skills and drills and share these with the other coaches. Practice plans are crucial to running a successful practice. Use Mojo as a practice planning guide.

· Be cognizant of all Rules and Code of Ethics.

· Have your team binder/roster in your possession during all games.

· Coach with a positive/professional demeanor with the emphasis to be a role model and coach.
