Sam Brown Campground (2300’ elevation) is located approximately 32 miles from Cave Junction (Hwy 199) and 27 miles from Merlin (I-5). This campground is centered around a large meadow and has 19 first-come, first-served camp sites and 3 vault toilets. There is an amphitheater, two picnic shelters, and a large meadow that is a great place to watch a wide variety of wildlife. The size of this campground along with the picnic shelters and open landscape make this a popular site for group camping.
Hosts are provided a free campsite and will be reimbursed for propane. Hosts must provide their own RV or travel trailer. Due to the narrow winding roads that access this site RVs are limited to 24’. There is no internet and little to no cell service at this campground. Hosts will be provided with a handheld radio and training on its use in case of emergency. There is no trash removal. Forest Service staff will haul out the campground host(s) trash and deliver water approximately once a week.
