Spring High School Project (Shadowing) Placements
ORGANIZATION: Holden Arboretum
Please visit the new page to apply.

Many high schools in northeast Ohio require their juniors and/or seniors to spend one or more weeks in the spring volunteering their time with an organization. Holden Forests & Gardens has a number of possible placements for high school students in environmental education, horticulture, conservation, research, and arboriculture. Students with a passion for the environment or working outdoors would be great fits for our tasks!
Interested students will be sent a current list of available projects (projects are removed as they fill), and instructions on how to apply as a volunteer.
Potential Risks and Hazards - Many of our placements are outdoors. With outdoor work in nature, students should be aware of the following risks:
- Exposure to weather or natural environments
- Trips, falls, uneven terrain, or poor walking conditions
- Exposure to insect bites and stings including ticks, ants, bees, and wasps
- Exposure to poisonous plants such as poison ivy
