ORGANIZATION: BOB TAVANI HOUSE FOR MEDICAL RESPITE

image_20250205100034

The Bob Tavani House in Duluth provides a safe haven for individuals experiencing homelessness to recover after a hospital stay. We offer a comfortable environment with private rooms, nutritious meals, and caring staff.

But we need your help!

Volunteer to cook dinner at the Bob Tavani House*! You pick the day - once a month or more often if you'd like. Dinners typically serve 4 to 6 individuals. We provide training and appreciate those who can make a regular commitment to our residents. You don't need to be a chef, just someone who cares about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable people.

Join our volunteer team and share your culinary talents (or just your willingness to help!)

It is our organizing principle and our privilege to be "people for people who need people."

Visit our website to learn more about our organization.

*Meals can be prepared on-site in our kitchen, made in your own home and brought to the house, or even picked up from local restaurants. We are grateful for the help.

About BOB TAVANI HOUSE FOR MEDICAL RESPITE

Location:

2119 W. 2nd Street, DULUTH, MN 55806, US

Mission Statement

To provide a supportive home environment while fostering connections to community for individuals who have an immediate medical need and lack safe housing.

Description

Since 2018, we've provided a vital resource previously lacking in the Northland: a safe, welcoming home for individuals experiencing homelessness to recover after hospital discharge for acute medical conditions. Our comfortable setting features private rooms, nutritious meals, and supportive staff, offering a crucial alternative to discharge to the streets or a shelter. This focus on healing prevents the needless, harmful, and costly cycle of hospital readmissions. During their stay at Bob Tavani House, we assist guests in securing housing and connecting with essential community resources, including social services, mental health care, and substance use treatment. Our goal is to empower them for a more stable future.

Our guiding principle, and our privilege, is to be "people for people who need people."
