Fire Relief - Wednesday Donation Volunteers

Many people in our community have lost their homes and are now displaced. Our organization has developed Fire Relief services to help our community impacted by the Pasadena Fires and we need volunteers to help make it a success.

Why: As a volunteer, you will be assisting those who have directly experienced being evacuated, or displaced, and who have faced damages or lost their homes completely due to the devastating Pasadena fires. By helping unload and sort out donations we will be able to prepare items for people who need immediate assistance.

Who: At Union Station Homeless Services we support our community of Pasadena through homeless services, but now more than ever more people will be facing homelessness due to the fires. Your volunteerism will help us serve the high influx of those in need during this time. Every week we hold a donation drive where people can drop off donations such as food, water, hygiene items, clothes, and bedding. We also have a pickup station where those affected can pick up these donations for their families and loved ones.

What to Expect:

We need volunteers to help us take in donations, organize donations, and distribute donations.

When working at our pick-up station, you will interact directly with those affected and be able to hand them items that they need to provide relief.

Volunteers can commit to one shift or multiple/recurring.

We can also be flexible with the time they serve if they can't make the entire shift.

What's Required:

This entails some lifting (of boxes) and interacting with individuals impacted by the fires. This takes place every Wednesday and our shifts are 10:00 am - 3:00 pm and 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm at our Adult Center in Pasadena.

The shift takes place outdoors and volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes.

Parking: we ask that volunteers utilize street parking as our parking lot is being used for donations.
