Volunteer Opportunities with AsylumWorksAbout AsylumWorks

Asylum seekers, refugees, and other people fleeing persecution arrive in the United States with complex needs that extend beyond just legal services. Without intervention, these circumstances diminish the newcomer’s ability to participate in immigration proceedings. AsylumWorks was created to provide critical services for newcomers that reduce barriers to well-being, promote equity, and increase access to justice.

Direct client services are free and available to individuals and families living in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Northern Virginia, regardless of language, country of origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender expression. To scale our impact beyond the National Capital Region, AsylumWorks creates and shares expert tools and training resources to support newcomer-serving organizations nationwide.

Our Mission & Vision

AsylumWorks empowers asylum seekers & refugees to thrive in the National Capital region, and together, works to create a world where people seeking safety are uplifted by their new communities.
