Edge of the Wilderness Discovery Center

We provide full hook-ups, laundry facilities, and high-speed internet.


Duties for the Edge of the Wilderness Discovery Center in Marcell:

  • Working at the Visitor Center from 10 am to 6 pm, 3 to 4 days per week, but number of hours and days dependent on willingness, ability, and desire.
  • General staffing of Visitor Center, gift shop sales, light cleaning, information services.
  • Season start and end times to be determined based on availability.
  • Consecutive days off from volunteering to allow for exploring.
  • Attire: Casual, we supply some t-shirts, but they aren’t required.

  • Looking for two volunteers or couples.

  • Interpretive Displays and Exhibits
  • Interpretive Bookstore/Gift Shop
  • Office Space
  • Environmental Education Programming
  • Picnic Shelter
  • Entrance & Vehicle Turnaround
  • 24 Hour Vault Toilet
  • Outdoor Amphitheatre
  • Interpretive Trail w/boardwalk that highlights the natural features and Historic CCC buildings (National Register of Historic Places) on the site
  • Fishing/Wildlife Watching Pier
  • Historic Marcell Lodge Rental which is on the National Register of Historic Places
