Student counselors will be paired with a Dorm Monitor to help supervise Tech Trek campers throughout the day. They will also assist camp teachers with classes or leisure activities. They will help to provide a safe environment, ensure that campers are where they need to be, and act as role models for the campers by demonstrating a warm, positive outlook and attitude as well as excitement for STEM topics.

Please note that this is a one-week, overnight opportunity. Since we are an overnight girls' camp, all applicants must be female.

About Tech Trek of AAUW-WA

Location:

1569 PARKSIDE DR E, SEATTLE, WA 98112, US

Mission Statement

Tech Trek Washington's mission is to engage 8th grade girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) related topics. We know that most girls tend to lose interest in STEM in middle school, so we aim to nurture a love for learning all things STEM during a one-week summer camp. We hope that once a camper has left our program that have gained confidence in themselves and are passionate about STEM.

Description

Tech Trek WA is a one-week summer camp that is focused around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Campers will have the opportunity to stay on a university campus to get a college experience. They will stay in the dorms, have a meal plan, and attend hands-on classes that deep dive into STEM topics. In the past, we have dissected frogs, built thermometers, used computer coding problems, and extracted DNA from strawberries. This year, we are continuing to build on this work by creating another wonderful camp.
