Camp Director
ORGANIZATION: Tech Trek of AAUW-WA
Please visit the new page to apply.

The Camp Director is an integral part of our Tech Trek team who is positive, encouraging, and who helps to set the tone for camp. Her responsibilities consist of two main parts. The first is pre-camp planning: coordinating with the university, assisting with booking vendors or field trips, and collaborating on camp details with other volunteer leadership team members. The second part is directing camp. As Camp Director, you will assist volunteer staff members with camp challenges, communicate with staff and campers about where they need to be and when, and coordinate with parents to make camp a safe and comfortable environment. While Tech Trek is a virtual commitment for the majority of the year, one week of in-person work will be required to direct camp. This will happen from July 12th to July 19th.
**Camp Director is a volunteer position that receives a small stipend at the end of July/beginning of August.
**Since we are an overnight camp for middle school girls, all staff must be female.

Mission Statement
Tech Trek Washington's mission is to engage 8th grade girls in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) related topics. We know that most girls tend to lose interest in STEM in middle school, so we aim to nurture a love for learning all things STEM during a one-week summer camp. We hope that once a camper has left our program that have gained confidence in themselves and are passionate about STEM.
Description
Tech Trek WA is a one-week summer camp that is focused around Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Campers will have the opportunity to stay on a university campus to get a college experience. They will stay in the dorms, have a meal plan, and attend hands-on classes that deep dive into STEM topics. In the past, we have dissected frogs, built thermometers, used computer coding problems, and extracted DNA from strawberries. This year, we are continuing to build on this work by creating another wonderful camp.
