Teach about salmon conservation and build connections with the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery by guiding visitors at school and community events through table-based interactive activities, such as identifying salmon species from underwater footage, modeling watershed pollution solutions, and learning about fish anatomy by exploring a coho salmon dissection.
Timing: Year-round, event dependent. Most are between February and May on weekday evenings.
Location: Event dependent, usually within King County.
Requirements: Volunteers between the age of 14 and 18 are encouraged but not required to volunteer with an adult, unless there are personal responsibility concerns. A parent or legal guardian must sign the volunteer registration forms. Volunteers under the age of 14 must volunteer with a parent or legal guardian.
Commitment: 10+ hours
Volunteer shifts are event dependent and include transportation time estimates to and from the Issaquah SalmonHatchery to pick up and drop off equipment.

- Attend a Salmon Science Table Training (2 hours)
- Shadow a Salmon Science Table Event (3-5 hours)
- Volunteer at a Salmon Science Table Event (3-5 hours)
Notes: A driver's license and car is helpful. A volunteer for each event needs to pick up and drop off equipment at the hatchery. Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation, carpools may be available.

Description
Founded in 1993, the Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery (FISH) has been facilitating salmon conservation education and outreach at the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery for 30 years, in addition to providing operational support. Volunteer activities include leading hatchery tours, conducting outreach at the hatchery and local community events, operating the FISHop Gift Shop, providing educational experiences such as fish dissections, and more.
