Join the Bike Safety Parade and help promote safe cycling!

Bike 4 A Cause is looking for volunteers to ride in the Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade while distributing bike safety leaflets and raising awareness about California’s 6-foot passing law for cyclists.

Why This Matters:
  • California law now requires drivers to give cyclists at least 6 feet of space when passing, yet many drivers are unaware.
  • Ventura County has one of the highest bicycle-vehicle collision rates in California-your participation helps spread awareness and promote safer streets.
What You’ll Do:
  1. Ride in the Bike Safety Parade to promote safe cycling.
  2. Distribute educational leaflets to inform drivers about updated road safety laws.
  3. Encourage community participation by inviting families to our FREE Spring 2025 Bike Trail Competition & Learn 2 Ride Day.
Event Details:
  • Meeting Location: Cabrillo Middle School Parking Lot
  • Meet-Up Time: 9:00 AM
  • Parade Start: 10:00 AM
What to Bring:
  • A bike and helmet (helmets required for children; encouraged for adults).
  • Comfortable clothing (bright colors recommended!).
  • Optional:Bike 4 A Cause t-shirts & neon capes are available for a donation:
    • $4.50 donation covers cost
    • $10 donation sponsors a prize shirt or cape for a new rider

We believe that every cyclist--whether a child learning to ride or a seasoned rider--deserves safe streets, respect on the road, and opportunities to connect through cycling.

Description

Bike 4 A Cause is a Ventura-based nonprofit dedicated to fostering a happier, healthier, and safer community through cycling. Founded to bridge the gap between advocacy and action, we host free events that educate, empower, and unite cyclists of all ages.

Our Key Initiatives:

  • Bike Safety Parade - A public demonstration promoting road safety and cyclist awareness, held in major events like the Ventura St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
  • Learn 2 Ride Day - Teaching kids and families to ride safely using the Grassy Hill Method, with certificates signed by the Mayor of Ventura.
  • Spring 2025 Bike Trail Competition - A free all-ages competition where riders can earn trophies, milestone prizes, and track personal progress.
  • Community Outreach & Education - Distributing safety leaflets to educate drivers on new laws requiring a 6-foot passing distance for cyclists.

  • This is a Done in a Day opportunity and there is no prior training or ongoing commitment needed.
  • ✅ Approx. 2 hours (9:00 AM – 11:00 AM), including meet-up, instructions, and the parade ride. Volunteers can stay longer to engage with the community.
  • ✅ Bring a bike and helmet (helmets required for kids; adults encouraged). T-shirts & capes optional ($4.50 donation per item, $10 sponsors a new rider’s prize shirt/cape). Be ready to ride, share leaflets, and promote bike safety.
