The Community School of the Arts Foundation is dedicated to providing opportunities in arts education to underserved communities. We are expanding our ability to track key performance metrics with a Google Sheets-based mini-dashboard to help drive informed decision-making. Volunteer Position Overview:
We are seeking a Data and Spreadsheet Specialist who will help design and implement a Google Sheets mini-dashboard to track and visualize important organizational data such as fundraising progress, program participation, grant status, and event outcomes.
This role will provide critical support for ensuring that leadership has easy access to real-time data for strategic planning and operational decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Design and create a Google Sheets dashboard that pulls together key organizational metrics.
- Summarize data using formulas (SUM, COUNTIF, VLOOKUP, QUERY, etc.), pivot tables, and conditional formatting.
- Build visualizations such as progress bars, column charts, and pie charts.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure metrics align with organizational goals.
- Set up basic automation or updates to keep the dashboard current (e.g., data from Google Forms or other input sources).
- Ensure the dashboard is user-friendly and visually appealing.
- Automate processes using Google Apps Script or integration with external systems (CRM, fundraising platforms).
- Link detailed reports to allow deeper data exploration when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Google Sheets (advanced formulas, charts, pivot tables, conditional formatting).
- Ability to design data dashboards that are visually clear and actionable.
- Basic data analysis skills to ensure relevant and accurate reporting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- (Optional) Experience with Google Apps Script or integrating external data sources is a plus.
- (Optional) Basic knowledge of nonprofit KPIs such as fundraising, event tracking, or grant management is preferred.
