Behind the Scenes MVP: Volunteer Administrative Support

The Oakland Soccer Club is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented volunteer to provide essential administrative support, ensuring our club runs smoothly and effectively. As an Administrative Support Volunteer, you'll play a crucial role in managing key operational tasks, allowing our coaches and staff to focus on what matters most: developing our young athletes and fostering a thriving soccer community.

What You'll Do:

  • Coach License & Education Tracking: Maintain accurate records of coach licenses, certifications, and continuing education requirements, ensuring compliance with league regulations. This may involve data entry, tracking deadlines, and communicating with coaches.
  • Uniform Fulfillment & Distribution: Assist with the ordering, distribution, and inventory management of team uniforms. This could include coordinating with vendors, organizing uniform orders, and managing distribution events.
  • Club Communications: Support club-wide communication efforts, such as drafting newsletters, updating website content, managing social media posts, and responding to inquiries from parents and players.
  • Registration Support: Assist with player registration processes, including data entry, answering parent questions, and troubleshooting registration issues.
  • Behind-the-Scenes Support: Provide general administrative support for various club initiatives, including organizing documents, preparing reports, scheduling meetings, and assisting with special events. Your flexibility and willingness to tackle a variety of tasks will be invaluable.
  • Event Coordination: Help organize and assist planning various clubs events such as the annual Holiday party and club fundraiser.

What We Offer:

  • The opportunity to make a significant contribution to a respected youth sports organization.
  • A chance to develop your administrative and organizational skills.
  • The satisfaction of knowing you're supporting the growth and development of young athletes.
  • A welcoming and collaborative team environment.
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate your availability.

What We're Looking For:

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • A passion for soccer and a desire to support youth sports (preferred, but not required).

If you're a highly organized and motivated individual with a knack for administration and a desire to contribute to the success of our young soccer players, we encourage you to apply!

About Oakland Soccer Club

Location:

PO BOX 27546, Oakland, CA 94602, US

Mission Statement

A community first club, Oakland Soccer Club (OSC) exists to provide opportunities for people to develop through soccer regardless of playing ability, age, or economic resource. Committed to high level achievement both on and off the field, OSC seeks to support its members as they strive to succeed in sport, school and life. In working closely with our partners we desire to implement safe spaces, including parks and green space for recreational and athletic play, in order to build social capital and strengthen the bonds of our community.

Description

Oakland Soccer Club has been putting youth from our most underserved communities on fields throughout Oakland since 1974. Over the decades, OSC has served numerous generations of players positively thru providing access and inclusion to sport. OSC, along with its community, have endured through the well documented and historical challenges that marginalized peoples of color have often faced in Oakland and through that history has remained steadfast in its service to the youth and families of our town.

To this day, many underserved Oakland youth face a myriad of social and economic stressors which negatively affect their daily living. Our program works with players to build life skills to equip our members with tools with which to counteract the daily challenges that face in their day to day lives. Through helping them to negate some of these socio and economic stressors, participation in our program helps players to address feelings of incompetence, social disconnectedness, and negative experiences with social institutions in their communities. Through developing these various emotional, cognitive and interpersonal life skills and competencies, OSC seeks to ensure that Oakland youth are positioned to succeed both on and off the field.
We are 100 percent committed to leveling the playing field for the underserved players we serve.
