Capture the Spirit of Soccer: Volunteer Photographer/Videographer

The Oakland Soccer Club is seeking a talented and passionate volunteer photographer/videographer to capture the exciting moments and inspiring stories of our players' development and growth throughout the season. Your visual storytelling will help us showcase the dedication, skill, and sportsmanship of our young athletes, while also highlighting the vibrant community that makes Oakland Soccer Club so special.

What You'll Do:

  • Capture the Action: Photograph and/or film practices, games, and special events, focusing on dynamic action shots, candid moments of teamwork and camaraderie, and individual player achievements.
  • Tell the Story: Go beyond the game and capture the human side of soccer. Document the hard work, dedication, and personal growth of our players, coaches, and families. Capture the joy of victory, the lessons learned from challenges, and the sense of community that defines our club.
  • Create Engaging Content: Produce high-quality photos and videos that can be used on our website, social media channels, marketing materials, and end-of-season celebrations. Think compelling images, short highlight reels, player profiles, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of team life.
  • Collaborate and Share: Work closely with club staff, coaches, and families to identify key moments and stories worth capturing. Organize and share your photos and videos in a timely and accessible manner.

What We Offer:

  • The opportunity to contribute your skills to a thriving youth sports organization.
  • The chance to build your portfolio with dynamic sports photography/videography.
  • Recognition for your contributions on our website and social media platforms.
  • Access to club events and the opportunity to connect with our community of players, coaches, and families.
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate your availability.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proficiency in photography and/or videography, with a strong understanding of composition, lighting, and storytelling.
  • Experience in capturing action shots and candid moments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Creativity and a passion for visual storytelling.
  • Reliability and commitment to capturing key moments throughout the season.
  • Access to your own photography/videography equipment (preferred).

If you're a skilled and enthusiastic photographer/videographer with a passion for soccer and a desire to showcase the amazing stories of our young athletes, we encourage you to apply!

About Oakland Soccer Club

Location:

PO BOX 27546, Oakland, CA 94602, US

Mission Statement

A community first club, Oakland Soccer Club (OSC) exists to provide opportunities for people to develop through soccer regardless of playing ability, age, or economic resource. Committed to high level achievement both on and off the field, OSC seeks to support its members as they strive to succeed in sport, school and life. In working closely with our partners we desire to implement safe spaces, including parks and green space for recreational and athletic play, in order to build social capital and strengthen the bonds of our community.

Description

Oakland Soccer Club has been putting youth from our most underserved communities on fields throughout Oakland since 1974. Over the decades, OSC has served numerous generations of players positively thru providing access and inclusion to sport. OSC, along with its community, have endured through the well documented and historical challenges that marginalized peoples of color have often faced in Oakland and through that history has remained steadfast in its service to the youth and families of our town.

To this day, many underserved Oakland youth face a myriad of social and economic stressors which negatively affect their daily living. Our program works with players to build life skills to equip our members with tools with which to counteract the daily challenges that face in their day to day lives. Through helping them to negate some of these socio and economic stressors, participation in our program helps players to address feelings of incompetence, social disconnectedness, and negative experiences with social institutions in their communities. Through developing these various emotional, cognitive and interpersonal life skills and competencies, OSC seeks to ensure that Oakland youth are positioned to succeed both on and off the field.
We are 100 percent committed to leveling the playing field for the underserved players we serve.
