We are Mentor A Promise (the "MAP") a nonprofit organization providing social emotional learning, academic support and mentorship services to students experiencing housing instability in NYC.

Come join us at MAP, you are a social emotional learning (the "SEL") specialist. What You’ll Do at MAP:
  • Implement social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum through explicit instruction to our Mentors
  • Drive collection and analysis of data related to SEL intervention program and implement improvements based on data, feedback and observation;
  • Work with our Mentors in positive and creative ways that encourage teamwork;
  • Attend our weekly meetings to discuss best practices
What We’re Looking for in MAP SEL Specialists:
    • Bachelor’s degree, required;
    • Enrollment in, or Master’s degree from, MSW, MHC, or MSEd in Counseling, preferred;
    • Exhibit a strong belief that explicit and embedded SEL competency-building positively impacts academic achievement;
    • Strong written and oral communication skills;
    • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills;
    • A strong belief in the mission and values of MAP including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community

Description

We partner with family temporary housing sites across New York, educational institutions, and community organizations to create a strong support network for young people experiencing homelessness, helping them overcome challenges and forge their own path to success. We connect students with our mentors for in-person and online programs.
