Celebrate National Trails Day on the Monongahela National Forest!
Recreation staff are looking for volunteers to help clear trails near the scenic Lake Sherwood Recreation Area. Volunteers would be led by Trail Staff, who will provide Personal Protection Equipment (eye protection, gloves, ear protection, hardhats), trail equipment and would instruct volunteers. We will meet with volunteers at 10AM at the Lake Sherwood Gatehouse (very entrance).
We just ask that volunteers make sure to wear long pants, long sleeve shirts, sturdy footwear, bring plenty of water, a lunch or snack and sunscreen and/or bug spray. While the trail will not be strenuous to hike, volunteers should be comfortable hiking up to 3 miles and doing repetitive motions with loopers.
If you have any questions or concerns about volunteering, please contact Kirsten Owens at Kirsten.owens@usda.gov or 304-799-4334 ex 7995546.
