ORGANIZATION: SEMPERVIRENS FUND

As a Trails Rx Volunteer, you will support the Sempervirens Fund Marketing and Communications team in expanding the Trails Rx program through OuterSpatial, an outdoor adventure web application, and by collaborating with local state parks to develop public-facing Trails Rx materials. This position is reports directly to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and involves a combination of physical and digital tasks, including fieldwork, and digital engagement such as email correspondence, drafting content, and writing blogs and articles.

About Trails Rx:
Trails Rx is a wellness program created by Dr. Suzanne Bartlett Hackenmiller in collaboration with
Sempervirens Fund. It leverages the physical and mental health benefits of spending time in nature by guiding users through designated trails at Santa Cruz Mountain parks.
We are looking for a dedicated individual to help promote and grow this program. Your responsibilities include outreach to potential partners, coordinating photoshoots with portrait and nature photographers, content creation, trail documentation, and the development of exciting educational assets that engage audiences both online and in the field. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a wellness-focused initiative while gaining experience in outdoor programming.

As the Trails Rx Volunteer, you could:
* Partner with public agencies to expand digital trail mapping experiences for park visitors.
* Collaborate with state parks to design and install physical Trails Rx signage along trails.
* Develop "journeys" for trail guides, incorporating tips on forest bathing, sensory engagement
(both auditory and visual), and rest zones.
* Integrate Trails Rx content into the OuterSpatial platform.
* Write blog posts and short articles to promote Trails Rx and its benefits.
* Update and expand upon our Trails Rx website by adding new trails, imagery, descriptions,
health benefits, and more.

This volunteer opportunity may be right for you if you:

* Have strong partnership development and communication skills.
* Are creative, with a talent for writing engaging and compelling content.
* Enjoy designing educational and promotional materials.
* Have experience with marketing and digital engagement platforms.
* Hold a valid driver's license.
* Enjoy hiking on trails and uneven terrain.

Other Details:

Location:
Work locations will vary depending on the nature of the work. Expect to periodically work remote or within State Parks in Santa Cruz District counties or San Francisco Bay Area region.

Time commitment:
4 - 10 hours per week, with those hours split between working remotely or within a State park trail. This is a temporary, 4 - 6 month position.

Since 1900, Sempervirens Fund has permanently protected more than 53 square miles of local redwood forests and watersheds for people, wildlife and future generations. As California’s oldest land trust and the only organization focused entirely on this local redwood forest, Sempervirens Fund works on behalf of the community to re-establish a vast, beautiful, accessible redwood world that provides crucial refuge and recreation in our own backyard.
