Your next adventure is calling! Apply to be a Host Volunteer at Boyce Thompson Arboretum (BTA) for the 2025-2026 season. Founded in 1923, BTA is the oldest and largest botanical garden in Arizona set within almost 400 acres of breathtaking high-desert landscape at the foothills of the Superstition Mountains.

We are looking for volunteers that can live on-site for the 2025-26 season (October -April) and be ready to report for duty by October 1st, 2025. Each volunteer works 20 hours/week (40 hours total for dual occupancy). In exchange, you will receive an RV site with FHU and 24/7 access to a shared trailer with washers/dryers, and bathrooms with showers available for use at no cost.

Duties with our Education Department include leading educational tours, working with school groups, facilitating nature play for children, assisting with educational special events, and more. Previous experience is desired but not required.

Description

With the addition of the Wallace Desert Garden, Boyce Thompson Arboretum (BTA) now holds collections of desert plants from the United States, Mexico, Australia, Madagascar, India, China, Japan, Israel, South America, the Middle East, Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Arabian Peninsula-all told 4,025 taxa and 20,000 plants within 135 acres of gardens. Situated on 372 acres of scenic upland Sonoran Desert with nearly five miles of trails, BTA is Arizona’s oldest and largest botanical garden and one of Arizona’s top tourism sites.
