Applewood volunteers are valued members of the Ruth Mott Foundation team. Through volunteering at Applewood, community members are given the opportunity to participate in their community and support the Foundation’s community engagement efforts. Please review our House Tour Area Guide role description below and fill out an application to join us if it sounds like a good fit for you! Our volunteer onboarding process includes a background check and an in person training day on April 26th. Our open season runs May through October and we rely on volunteer support throughout that time.
House Tour Area Guide
Provide outstanding visitor experiences by facilitating self-guided tours of the main house. Share with visitors the history of the Mott home and family, as well as the enduring legacy of C.S. and Ruth Mott: their extraordinary commitment to civic participation.

Description
Applewood: The Charles Stewart Mott Estate is open seasonally from May through October to the public (free of charge) as a place of learning and beauty and as a tribute to the legacy of C.S. Mott. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. At Applewood, the Ruth Mott Foundation provides garden and house tours and conducts public programs, workshops, trainings, convenings, and field trips. Applewood's programs, activities, and events share the legacy of Ruth and C.S. Mott by showcasing the Motts' commitment to civic participation. Today, Applewood encompasses the original historic home and barn, acres of flower-filled gardens, stately trees, expansive lawns, and the heritage apple orchard for which it was named. We invite you to come explore Applewood!
