Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: American Cancer Society

Use drive good smiling lady 2024

Volunteers with the American Cancer Society's Road To Recovery program drive cancer patients with limited or no transportation to and from treatment appointments.

A volunteer coordinator is needed to assist ACS with connecting more rides and volunteers. This coordinator works with volunteer drivers and an ACS staff partner to:

  1. Review rides and contact drivers to connect more drivers with rides
  2. Review rides for errors, duplicates, and missing information
  3. Check on new volunteer drivers
  4. Communicate with staff partner
  5. OPTIONAL: drive patients
  6. OPTIONAL: help recruit more volunteer drivers

The time commitment is flexible per volunteer. A few minutes most days to scan rides, but usually once a week messaging driver team.

Coordinating includes e-mailing, calling, and texting volunteer drivers regarding the Road To Recovery program.

Although a specific location is not required, the volunteer needs to live in the area.

Computer skills required.

Driver training is required. Volunteer coordinator has additional one-on-one training.
