Hip-Hop Majorette Dance Panel
ORGANIZATION: SoulPhamm Inc
Please visit the new page to apply.
SoulPhamm is recruiting a team of five (5) experienced dancers to join its first-ever Dance Panel. Candidates must have formal training in any genre to qualify and must be current residents of NYC or NJ.
SoulPhamm currently includes a hip-hop majorette dance team (girls ages 12-21) and a stomp & shake cheerleading team (girls ages 12-18) that occasionally participates in dance competitions. We will also be forming a boys’ HBCU style Drum Major Team (high school students). Panelists will ideally be available on Saturdays between 12:30pm and 3:30pm until June 21 st. While Panelists won’t be needed every single Saturday, their presence would be required at our internal stand battles (dates below).
To enhance our dancers' competitive performance, we are implementing a comprehensive feedback and development program. Our Dance Panel will provide regular, constructive critiques during practices to help dancers strengthen their routine execution and stage presence. The panel will focus on technical precision, performance quality, and artistic expression.
To build competitive experience and confidence, we will host a series of "stand battles" both internally and with the community. These events are scheduled for March 22, April 26, May 3, and June 21. Dancers will be evaluated using a structured rubric, giving them valuable competition experience in a supportive environment.
Additionally, qualified judges will have the opportunity to conduct specialized dance clinics, either virtually or in-person, focusing on technique refinement and performance skills. This multi-faceted approach aims to build our dancers' confidence, resilience, and artistic abilities while preparing them for competitive success.

Mission Statement
Our mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of young people by providing unique artistic and athletic experiences and performances, and to assist them in achieving the highest standards of professionalism through the development of discipline, skill, confidence, cooperation, leadership, responsibility and character.
Description
Our vision is to promote virtue, equity, unity, justice, faith, charity and a sense of common purpose and brotherhood among all people with an emphasis on the development and advancement of young people through education, athletics, service and the arts.
SoulPhamm was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of New Jersey on June 25, 2021 and is the "birth-child" of Coach Luis ("Lou") and Dr. Leisa Herrera ("Mz. Doc"). The organization exists to provide training to young people in a variety of sports and performing arts and unique opportunities to display those talents through competition and performance. By integrating mentoring, life skills, opportunities for community service and academic enrichment to the athletic/artistic program, we help make our scholar-athletes as well-rounded as possible, capable of meeting and overcoming any challenges they are faced with. Although Coach Lou passed away suddenly in January 2021, the official launch of SoulPhamm was held on June 26, 2021, which coincided with his birthday weekend. SoulPhamm will recognize its own founding, as well as the achievements of our young people every year on the fourth Saturday of June, as a tribute to the life and legacy of Coach Lou.
