Would you like to spend your summer creating impactful memories for campers that will last a lifetime? The City of Glendora has a part-time (temporary- seasonal) volunteer opportunity in the Recreation Division as a Councelor in Training (CIT) at Dirt Camp at Big Dalton Canyon Wilderness Area.
The opportunity is 35 - 40 hours per week during the summer of 2025. Camp is 8 weeks long with training prior. Applicant must be committed to working June 3 - August 1, Monday - Friday 9:30 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. Applicants must enjoy the great outdoors, hiking, singing songs, crafts, and have the leadership skills to work with all ages.
Under direct supervision of the Day Camp Director and supervisory staff, a CIT performs a variety of duties within the City’s Recreation & Human Services Department.Some of the typical duties of a CIT include but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide assistance to staff and supervise participants during activities.
- Institute and enforce camp rules and discipline/reward procedures for participants.
- Ensure participant welfare during all activities, trips, and transportation.
- Ensures all City policies, procedures, and protocol are enforced.
- Interacts with participants and visitors in person.
- Reports incidents and accidents to Day Camp Director or supervisory staff.
- Effectively addresses issues and concerns with patrons as they arise.
- Attends meetings and training sessions as needed.
- Works with other program areas, as requested.
- Other activities and duties as directed.
