Native Plant Identification Volunteer

ORGANIZATION: Friends of the WNC Nature Center

Do you have an in-depth knowledge of native plants? The Nature Center is looking for a dedicated volunteer to work on a plant identification project from April to September. Qualified volunteers will be able to identify a variety of native plants based on their own knowledge however, additional resources will be provided to ensure accuracy. The schedule is 4 hours a week - dates and times are flexible.

Tasks Include:

  • Working with the Marketing/Events Manager to determine appropriate plants for labelling.
  • Ensuring plants are labelled accurately.
  • Placing labels into the ground.
  • Consistently communicating with supervisor on progress.
  • Answering guest questions regarding native species.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend and stoop.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
  • Visual acuity is required for determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
