2025 Elizabeth Furnace (VA) Campground Host

Elizabeth Furnace is a popular recreation area. It has 32 camping sites, 2 interpretative trails that describe the turn-of-the-century iron industry, a log cabin and a large day-use area. Hikers and fishermen frequent this area. Elizabeth Furnace is located at the northern end of the Massanutten Mountain near Front Royal, Virginia.
Expectations:
Hosts are asked to spend a minimum of one month at this facility. Campground hosts are asked to work 3-5 days a week for a total of approximately 20-32 hours a week. Hosts are given two days off in a row to enjoy the area and to relax. Duties can vary depending on individual preferences and abilities. Duties are agreed to in writing prior to the Host's arrival.
Amenities on Site:
- Host sites have full hook-ups (Electricity, water, sewer, and telephone hookups). Cell coverage in the area is not available.
- RV Dump station at campground for your convenience.
- Well Water pump and pit toilets available year-round.
- Shower house and flush toilets available May - October.
Your Role:
As a Campground Host, you'll serve as the friendly face of the campground, assisting visitors with information, maintaining facilities, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all who stay. Hosts should be comfortable working with and talking to fellow campers about forest rules and policies. The ability to perform light maintenance such as mowing or weed eating and clean restrooms is needed. Special skills such as plumbing, electrical or woodworking would be a plus!

Preference will be given to volunteers who can stay for longer than 1-2 months for the season.
