Position Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and passionate Image Library Editor to help build and organize our growing image library. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, processing, and managing images from Creative Commons and the public domain to support our editorial and digital projects. Your work will be essential in ensuring that our content is visually compelling, well-organized, and aligned with our journalistic mission.

The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, familiarity with digital asset management, and a keen understanding of image sourcing and editing principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Curate, organize, and maintain the image library to ensure easy access for editorial and marketing teams.

  • Source high-quality images from Creative Commons, public domain repositories, and relevant archives.

  • Edit, enhance, and format images for digital use, ensuring they meet publication standards.

  • Assign and manage metadata, including captions, credits, and usage rights, to maintain a structured library.

  • Process a minimum of 15 images per week, ensuring quality and consistency.

  • Work collaboratively with content creators, designers, and editors to fulfill image requests.

  • Stay informed about best practices in digital asset management and image copyright policies.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in digital advertising, including campaign creation, optimization, and analysis.

  • Passion for visual storytelling, digital media, or photography.

  • Proficiency in image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or equivalent tools.

  • Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.

  • Familiarity with metadata tagging and digital asset management principles.

  • Ability to work independently and meet weekly deadlines.

  • Experience using Google Docs and collaborative tools is a plus.

  • Clear communication skills to effectively coordinate with the editorial team.

Expectations:

As a member of our team, you will work closely with leaders across various departments. We ask all team members to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week and to maintain high responsiveness through Slack, email, and conference calls. Additionally, we request a minimum commitment of 12 months to ensure continuity and meaningful contributions to our mission.
