Position Overview Humane Action Pennsylvania is excited to be launching Pittsburgh Veg Week: a vegan restaurant week. Coordinate, create, and post content for Pittsburgh Veg Week’s Instagram and Facebook accounts to expand our reach and engagement.

Purpose of the Position 1. Increase the visibility and impact of Pittsburgh Veg Week, an initiative of Humane Action Pennsylvania, by leveraging key social media platforms. 2. Engage with community members and the public to promote plant-based living and raise awareness of our events and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities 1. Work with leadership to develop social media strategies and initiatives for Pittsburgh Veg Week. 2. Grow audience engagement and community participation on Instagram and Facebook. 3. Coordinate with other volunteers to ensure consistent messaging across social media channels. 4. Draft, schedule, and publish content in a timely manner. 5. Respond to leadership emails and calls within 24 hours. 6. Attend monthly communications meetings. 7. Represent and support HAP’s mission and core values; adhere to organizational policies. 8. Go in person to locations for content creation. Ex. restaurants, to meet with influencers, etc. 9. Develop relationships with local influencers and relevant accounts. 10. Perform other duties as needed.

Skills and Qualifications 1. Strong written communication skills. 2. Passion for and knowledge of plant-based living, sustainability, and animal welfare a plus. 3. Experience with digital communication tools, including Instagram and Facebook. 4. Self-motivated and able to work independently. 5. Ability to present yourself in a friendly, professional, and nonpartisan manner. 6. Ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines, and contribute creatively.

7. Reliable transportation.

8. Must be located in the greater Pittsburgh area.

Time Commitment Required - Approximately 3-5 hours per week on average. However, the time commitment may increase in the weeks leading up to the event. - Monthly one-hour virtual communications team meetings - Additional meetings as needed

Supervisor - Shannon Dickerson, Director of Operations - Natalie Ahwesh, Executive Director

Dress Code Professional attire is required for formal meetings (if any).
