Needs Assessment Volunteers Role Description
Needs Assessment is a systematic approach to ensuring the service efficiently uses resources to improve the population's health.
To be successful as a Needs Assessment volunteer, you should be resourceful and demonstrate excellent time management and patience. You can research the whole country, region, county, district, city, unitary authority, borough, parish, constituency, or ward in Africa and the Diaspora in the UK or US.

We are looking for qualified Needs Assessors Volunteers to do assessments in the following areas:
- Medical (various topics)
- Health (various issues)
- Cancer (various cancers)
- Financial (multiple issues)
- Social Care (various issues)
- Education (various issues)
- Housing (various issues)
- Criminal justice (various issues)
- Climate (various issues)
- Animals and Wildlife (multiple issues)
- Environment (various issues)
- Disabilities (various issues)
- Cardiovascular (various issues)
- Coronavirus (various topics)
- Children & Young People
- Women, Girls and Mothers (various issues)
- Men and Boys (various issues)
- Chronic conditions e.g. Diabetes, Kidney Failure, Dialysis, etc
Candidates will receive a full list. Volunteers are welcome to suggest topics of interest to them, their families, or their communities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct a needs assessment to ensure that people can benefit from services or broader social and environmental changes.
- Successful needs assessments require a practical understanding of what is involved, the time and resources necessary to undertake assessments, and sufficient integration of the results into the planning and commissioning of local services.
- Carry out needs assessments using a systematic approach to ensure that the service efficiently uses its resources to improve the population's health.
- To involve epidemiological, qualitative, and comparative methods to describe population problems, identify inequalities and access to services, and determine priorities for the most effective use of resources.
- Carry out a needs assessment in Africa and the Diaspora in the UK & US, choosing your countries in Africa and BAME communities in the UK and other Diaspora countries.
- To produce reports for the Needs Assessment that the management and Grants Writers will use to make decisions and write grant applications.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- A qualification in research, public health, epidemiology, health, medicine, marketing, business studies, global development, international health management, global health, social policy, sociology, anthropology, international development, mathematics, statistics, engineering, criminology, law, art and design, economics, education, gender studies, children studies, social care, environmental sciences, social sciences, journalism, media studies, or similar qualifications.
- At least two (2) years of proven experience in needs assessment in the relevant field.
- Sound understanding of needs assessment methodologies.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Strong statistical and mathematical aptitude.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Practical experience in database management.
- Attention to detail and exceptional written, verbal, and telephonic communication skills.
