Volunteer Camp Medical Staff - Camp Connect - Camp for Siblings Separated in Foster Care
ORGANIZATION: ELEVATING CONNECTIONS
Please visit the new page to apply.

Camp Connect is an overnight summer camp for siblings that are separated in foster care to have uninterrupted time together to bond and be kids. Camp Connect will take place August 4th-8th at YMCA Camp Shady Brook in Deckers, CO, and includes classic summer camp activities, such as horseback riding, canoeing, archery, swimming, climbing, etc, and our own signature activities such as youth voice activities, a carnival, star gazing, and a dance party.
The Volunteer Camp Medical Staff is a role that is vital to camp operations. Camp Medical Staff are responsible for administering medication to campers, volunteers, and staff during the five days of camp and two days of training. They administer first aid as needed, and supervise campers if they are sick/resting in the medical station. Medical staff ensure that camp rules and regulations are followed and that safety is maintained for all participants while in their care. Camp medical staff are trusting, responsible, caring adults that are organized and can keep medication logs. Medical assistants, EMTs, nurses, medical doctors are encouraged to apply. We need you!
We need volunteer medical staff at camp from August 3rd-8th, 2024. Partial week volunteer shifts available, as well as the full week. All meals provided. Background check required.

Mission Statement
Elevating Connections is dedicated to building sustained positive relationships for current & former youth in foster care-including those experiencing sibling separation-to use their voice & build meaningful community connections. No one ages out of our programming.
Description
Elevating Connections was created in 2015 with the purpose of providing year-round programming for siblings separated in foster care to spend time together, as well as continuing their sibling summer camp, Camp Connect (formerly Camp to Belong Colorado). EC was also created to provide programming and community to youth that are "aging out" of foster care without meaningful, permanent connections, with intention to provide community and outlets for self-expression.
EC has a Sibling Connections program, as well as the Youth Connections program:
- The Sibling Connections program does twice-monthly arts and recreational events for siblings separated in foster care, both in Denver and Colorado Springs. We also organize a week-long overnight summer camp in August for siblings, where they are able to have uninterrupted time together to bond and be kids. The Sibling Connections program is for siblings ages 5-18.
- The Youth Connections program is for youth and young adults ages 15+ who have experienced foster care. We have monthly community dinners in the Denver Metro area, and do arts and youth voice programming throughout the year. This includes arts workshops, writing workshops, an annual poetry jam, as well as an annual arts festival. Through this programming, participants are able to express themselves, be in community with other youth, and learn different art modalities.
