As a Finance Committee volunteer, you will support NAMI Metro Suburban's financial health and sustainability. This role requires a strategic thinker with financial acumen, who can contribute to the organization’s budgeting, financial planning, and oversight processes in a limited monthly capacity.

Responsibilities:

  • Budget Review: Participate in the review of the organization’s budget and provide insights or recommendations to ensure financial alignment with NAMI Metro Suburban's goals.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the analysis of financial statements, ensuring transparency and accuracy in reporting.
  • Compliance Oversight: Help ensure the organization adheres to nonprofit financial regulations and best practices.
  • Fund Allocation: Advise on the allocation of funds and the financial implications of new programs or initiatives.
  • Audit Support: Collaborate in preparing for audits or financial reviews as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Finance Knowledge: Background in finance, accounting, or economics (professional or volunteer experience welcome).
  • Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and the ability to review financial reports critically.
  • Nonprofit Experience: Preferred but not required; a passion for mental health and community support is essential.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about mental health advocacy and willing to contribute their financial expertise to support NAMI's mission. NAMI Finance Committee meets virtually on a monthly basis.

NAMI Metro Suburban has offered critical support for those with mental health conditions across the western suburbs of Cook County for over 30 years. NAMI Metro Suburban is dedicated to ensuring that no one ever feels alone in their mental health journey. NAMI Metro Suburban’s mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals, families, and communities who have been affected by mental illness by providing advocacy, support, and education in the western suburbs of Cook County, Illinois.

NAMI Metro Suburban has a host of peer-based recovery tools, resources, and education available. With prevention, support, and education for youth, ongoing social, emotional, and employment programs, and our longstanding community of friends and supporters, we work to end mental health stigma, so people and families can get the help they need. NAMI Metro Suburban offers hope and healing to over 20,000 people every year. NAMI Metro Suburban’s vision is that the treatment of mental health conditions is accessible, equitable, and without stigma.
