Location: Potentially held at Morgan State University or Coppin State University
CITCA is seeking licensed and experienced mental health counselors to volunteer at the Youth Wellness Summit 2025. This two-day event focuses on mental wellness, social-emotional learning (SEL), and youth empowerment, providing attendees with tools to build resilience and thrive. Your expertise will be vital in supporting youth participants during workshops and breakout sessions.
Volunteer Role: Mental Health Counselor
As a volunteer mental health counselor, you will:
- Facilitate and support discussions during mental health and SEL workshops, ensuring a safe and open environment for youth to share.
- Provide on-the-spot guidance and coping strategies to participants who may experience emotional challenges during the event.
- Collaborate with workshop leaders to enhance sessions with your professional insight.
- Offer resources, tools, and strategies to help youth develop healthy mental health practices.
- Be available to provide brief one-on-one support if a participant needs assistance.
Qualifications
- Must be a licensed mental health professional (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist, etc.) or actively pursuing licensure with supervision.
- Experience working with youth populations in mental health, counseling, or educational settings.
- Strong communication and active listening skills.
- Compassionate and culturally sensitive approach to working with diverse groups of youth.

Counselors in the Community Alliance- CITCA serves disadvantaged individuals throughout the United States from urban & rural communities with mental and behavioral health resources by increasing access to services, resources and support for children, adults and families impacted by poverty and poverty-related issues and bridge the gaps to strengthen community resilience through stewardship, economic opportunities, health and education equity.
Description
CITCA is a national 501c3 on a powerful mission to increase strengthen mental health awareness and community resilience. Our association includes a collaborative alliance among counselors, mental health professionals, and community members nationwide engaging in civic community activities that promote mental health awareness and resiliency. Through such allyship the organization strengthens anti-poverty initiatives that bridge the gaps on access to care and socioeconomic resources including programs, education and employment resources.
Since incorporating the nonprofit has been driving impact in social emotional learning, SEL and increasing access to counseling services for low income families. The organization also offer programs for youth leadership development, advocacy, community resources and programs that contribute to prosocial development and other services to close equity gaps
We are seeking volunteers to serve with us who share similar passions to increase mental health awareness and strengthen communities. Volunteers are the driving force our mission would be incomplete without and we welcome all with a passion too serve.
