Help behind the old Bear Grotto at Point Defiance Park and give back to your community by caring for this important area in the park. The old Bear Grotto is a beautiful spot, but pesky weeds are trying to take over! Remove invasive blackberries, thistles, and other unwanted weeds, and help prune up ornamental trees to make the space even more inviting for visitors to enjoy!

All ages and abilities welcome! Tools and work gloves provided.

"Chip in" by investing your time and talents to help improve parks and green spaces, protect neighborhood buildings and promote a healthy environment while also building a stronger community.

Metro Parks Tacoma is a CAPRA-accredited, independent park district that leads efforts to build a healthy, sustainable community.

Metro Parks Tacoma offers a variety of experiences on its 2,905 acres:

  • Two AZA-accredited zoos
  • An old-growth forest inside 760-acre Point Defiance Park
  • Sports complexes, pools and spraygrounds
  • Community centers
  • A marina on Puget Sound
  • An accredited living history museum
  • 87 miles of trails
  • Nine community gardens
  • A golf course
  • A Victorian-style conservatory inside an arboretum
  • and hundreds of program offerings in sports, arts, and more.
