Are you passionate about fostering inclusion and empowering student-athletes? Become a Unified Track & Field District Manager with Special Olympics North Carolina (SONC) and help ensure the success of our fully inclusive high school sports program.
What is Unified Track & Field?Unified Track & Field is a co-ed interscholastic high school program that brings together students with and without intellectual disabilities to train and compete as teammates. It’s more than a sport-it’s a movement for social inclusion and teamwork, treating Unified teams like any other high school sports team.
What You’ll Do:As a District Manager, you’ll play a key role in coordinating and supporting Unified Track & Field teams at schools in your assigned county. Responsibilities include:
- Be the main point of contact for participating schools and Unified Track & Field inquiries.
- Maintain regular communication with Unified track coaches to ensure objectivity and foster a smooth season.
- Collect and organize practice schedules, competition schedules, and rosters from assigned schools.
- Share important track meet information with coaches.
- Act as the liaison between SONC and Unified teams, ensuring forms and requirements are completed.
- Take responsibility for all expenses that may procure through this voluntary role at SONC
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- A passion for inclusion and working with student-athletes.
- A commitment to supporting schools and coaches throughout the season.
- 2-4 hours per week for a minimum of 8 weeks.
- Be actively engaged from the start of the season through its conclusion.
- Make a lasting impact on students and help create a more inclusive school culture.
- Develop your leadership and organizational skills while supporting a meaningful cause.
- Join a network of dedicated volunteers working to bring out the best in every student-athlete.
