Program Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and patient Volunteer Sewing Instructor to lead a free, beginner’s sewing program at our library. This program is designed to introduce participants to the basics of sewing, culminating in an individual project. Sewing machines and materials will be provided to the instructor and participants.
Responsibilities:
·Plan and conduct 8 sewing sessions, each lasting 2 hours for Spring, Summer and Fall 2025 Terms.
·Teach basic sewing skills, including threading a needle, using a sewing machine, and understanding different types of stitches.
·Guide participants through simple projects to build their confidence and skills.
·Assist participants in selecting and completing an individual project by the end of the program.
·Ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all participants.
·Provide feedback and support to participants as needed.
Qualifications:
·Experience in sewing and teaching sewing skills to beginners.
·Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
·Patience and enthusiasm for working with individuals of all ages and skill levels.
·Ability to plan and organize lessons effectively.
·Previous experience in teaching or instructional role is preferred.
Participants:
Participants may include single individuals, couples, parent/child, etc.
·Adults aged 18 and older.
·Children ages 9-17 when accompanied by a registered parent/guardian.
·Minors will not be allowed to attend/register without a registered parent/guardian.
·Children under 9 will not be allowed to attend/register.
Duration: 8 sessions of 2 hours each per term - Spring, Summer, Fall 2025

Saturdays, April 5, 12, 19 & 26 | May 3, 10, 17 & 24 @ 10-12PM
Summer Term
Saturdays, July 12, 19 & 26 | August 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 @ 10-12PM
Fall Term
Saturdays, September 6, 13, 20 & 27 | October 4, 11, 18 & 25 @ 10-12PM

Description
The Ladies Improvement Association founded the Delray Beach Public Library in 1913. In 1938 the Delray Beach Public Library Association became a not-for-profit corporation to provide a public library in Delray Beach. Since 1950, our patrons have received library service through a successful public/private partnership between the City of Delray Beach and the Library Association. The City of Delray Beach has provided a large percentage of the annual operating budget and the Library Association has raised capital funds.
Delray Beach Public Library exists to enrich the lives of the individuals of Delray Beach’s diverse communities by creating and sustaining superior public library services through responsive staff, dynamic collections, appropriate technology and access to global information.
