ORGANIZATION: TAMPA BAY COLLARD GREEN FESTIVAL INC

Position Overview:
Join us at the Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival on Saturday, February 15, 2025, to help collect valuable demographic information from festival attendees. As a Data Collection Ambassador, you'll engage with attendees, ask them to complete a short, 3-minute survey using an iPad, and contribute to improving health equity in our community.


Responsibilities:
* Approach festival attendees courteously and encourage them to complete the survey.
* Assist attendees in navigating the 3-minute survey on the provided iPad.
* Answer basic questions about the purpose of the survey and its importance.
* Ensure surveys are completed accurately and recorded correctly.
* Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor throughout your shift.


Requirements:
* High school students with an interest in community service or public engagement.
* Comfortable interacting with diverse groups of people.
* Able to stand or walk around the festival grounds for the shift.
* Punctual, responsible, and willing to follow instructions.


Shift Details:
* Volunteers will work in one of three shifts:
o Morning: 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
o Midday: 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
o Afternoon: 1:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.
* Each shift includes a short orientation and break.

* iPads for data collection.
* Volunteer T-shirts to wear during the festival.
* Refreshments during your shift.
* Community service hours for your participation.

Mission Statement

Tampa Bay Collard Green Festival Inc. champions health equity, combats the epidemic of heart disease, and celebrates cultural heritage in underserved communities, particularly Black, Brown, and African American populations. We provide accessible solutions that promote mental well-being, prevent diet-related illnesses, and foster economic empowerment, generating a measurable return through improved community health and well-being.

Goals and Programs
Our main goal is to create accessible and engaging pathways to wellness for all, particularly within underserved communities. Programs like the I ❤️ Greens 5K Fitness Extravaganza and Couch to 5K program inspire participants to embrace active lifestyles. Our Farm-to-Table Initiative and Collard Green Cook-Off showcase fresh, healthy food options, while the Inkclusive Pages Book Fair elevates BIPOC authors, encouraging literacy and cultural awareness.

Achievements
Each year, our festival attracts over 12,000 attendees and reaches millions through media, providing platforms for health and wellness education. We've successfully collaborated with local organizations to provide access to health screenings, nutrition education, and fitness opportunities, creating lasting impacts on thousands of lives.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are essential to our mission, with opportunities ranging from event setup and coordination to supporting our fitness events, book fair, and cooking demonstrations. Volunteers can assist with registration, serve as race guides for the 5K, help distribute educational materials, and more, gaining firsthand experience in community service and health advocacy.
