Campground Host

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

The campground host supports the campground operation and provides a valuable point of contact for visitors in the campground. While on duty you will be required to wear a volunteer uniform shirt as you will be an official representative of the National Park Service. It is very important that you speak and act courteously and professionally. Do not put yourself in a situation that is beyond the scope of your duties as a campground host. Remember that your job is enlightenment, not enforcement. Ranger and/or maintenance staff will be available by radio during business hours. There is very limited cell service at Oregon Caves National Monument & Preserve and virtually none in the campground. A Radio will be your main source of contact and a Garmin In-Reach device and a building key will be provided as another form of emergency response communications. Training will be provided for each device.

Housing Situation

Campground host will live on site in a reserved gravel pad, large enough to accommodate an RV under 10ft wide by 35ft length. The site has hook-ups to potable water, electricity (travel trailer style receptacle; 125v, 30amp), and wastewater. A Bear proof food storage container is provided in the host site.

Cave Creek Campground opens Memorial Day weekend and closes Labor Day weekend or after until the first fall rains arrive.

DUTIES

The campground host supports the campground operation and provides a valuable point of contact for visitors in the campground. It is important that the campground host be knowledgeable about the park including but not limited to: the visitor centers, trails, cave tours, and guided hikes, etc.

The host does not collect fees and will direct the camper to fee station/iron ranger or the visitor center to pay their campsite fee.

The host may perform some minor maintenance activities around the campground i.e., light custodial, litter collection of campsites, campfire rings and bear proof food storge boxes, they may be special projects to improve the campground. The maintenance staff will provide any PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) needed.
