Diamond Lake Visitor Center Attendant - Umpqua National Forest

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: USDA Forest Service

The Umpqua National Forest is seeking volunteers for the Diamond Lake Visitor Center, located across from the historic Diamond Lake Campground. Diamond Lake is just 19 miles from Crater Lake National Park and sees thousands of visitors each year. The Diamond Lake area offers fishing, mountain biking and hiking trails, camping, swimming, and many other recreational opportunities.

Duties of staffing the Diamond Lake Visitor Center include welcoming visitors, answering questions about the local area and any current use restrictions, recommending recreation opportunities, and helping Forest Service personnel and other volunteers in operations of the Diamond Lake Recreation area. In addition, other duties are helping with occasional needs such as picking up litter, restocking toilet paper, and communicating maintenance problems or other conflicts with Forest Service staff. Restrooms are cleaned by a contractor, but volunteers help Forest Service staff monitor the condition. Watering and mowing of vegetation in front of Visitor Center as well as housekeeping (vacuuming, restocking of brochures, etc.) are included in daily tasks. Volunteer(s) must have excellent customer service skills and a friendly disposition, as well as be able to lift and be mobile on varied terrain.
