Make a Difference: Volunteer as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)
Are you passionate about making a lasting impact in the life of a child? Join DeKalb County CASA as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and be the voice for abused and neglected children in foster care.
What You'll Do:
As a CASA volunteer, you’ll advocate for the best interests of a child by:
- Gathering information about their situation.
- Visiting with the child and foster placement monthly.
- Communicating with caregivers, teachers, caseworkers, attorneys, and other professionals.
- Attending court hearings and providing recommendations to help judges make informed decisions.
- Building a trusting relationship with the child to understand their needs and wishes.
What We Provide:
- Comprehensive training to prepare you for the role as well as continuing education opportunities.
- Ongoing support and guidance from experienced Advocacy Coordinators.
- Opportunities to make a meaningful impact in your community.
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years or older.
- Pass background checks.
- Dedicate 15-20 hours per month.
- Complete our training program and commit to at least one year and/or one case.

Mission Statement
The mission of the DeKalb County CASA is to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children who are under the protection of DeKalb Juvenile Court and are seeking to assure safe, permanent families for them as quickly as possible.
Description
DeKalb County CASA screens, trains, and supervises volunteers who provide a voice for abused and neglected children in the DeKalb Juvenile Court system.
