The Catholic Charities/MANA House Veterans Volunteer Outreach Center Assistant assists the Veterans Outreach Coordinator in the supervision and maintenance of the Veterans Outreach Center related walk in veteran clients.

**Please Note: Date/Time does not reflect actual volunteer hours. Volunteer schedules will be coordinated with supervisor, following the onboarding process. You will receive an APPROVAL email upon completion.

Hours: Day/hours are flexible during Monday - Friday business hours, to be determined by the supervisor upon approval

Time Commitment: A minimum of 10 hours per week

Summary:

The Catholic Charities/MANA House Veterans Volunteer Outreach Center Assistant assists the Community Engagement Coordinator in collaboration with agency programs, corporate, faith based and community outreach efforts. Particularly focusing on building relationships with volunteers, local community partners, and service providers. Closely work with MANA House team members to assist in overall coordination of services and opportunities to implement and administer effective outreach programs and events to increase engagement initiatives for our Veterans at MANA House. Goals include: Reaching out to homeless veterans that are not being served or are underserved by existing community service delivery systems. Building trusting relationships and developing a rapport that leads to acceptance and openness to seeking help. Engaging homeless veterans as a first step to accepting care for immediate health and safety needs, using services and resources, and taking steps to become integrated into the community. Enabling veterans to accept placement and opportunities to stabilize their lives. Reaching out and providing follow up assistance to veterans who have transitioned through Catholic Charities/MANA House to permanent housing.

Security Level 2: Sterling’s Advanced (L2) Background Check, two (2) Reference Checks.

Time Commitment: A minimum of 10 hours per week up to 40.

Tasks: (essential functions, not intended to be all-inclusive). Assist the Community Engagement Coordinator with the following.

Engaging walk-in clients with a welcoming and positive attitude.

Encouraging use of services and programs.

Assisting walk in clients and visitors in connecting to appropriate services and resources. Providing accurate and informed referral information for necessary services. ยท

Assist in recruitment, orientation, support, and recognition of volunteers.

Assist in marketing and creative support to enhance volunteer and community outreach efforts. Assisting with facility cleanliness and maintenance.

Participating in training opportunities appropriate to the performance of his/her duties. Collaborating with other MANA House, Catholic Charities, Veterans Administration and Human Service Campus programs.

Attending and participating in appropriate Catholic Charities MANA House staff meetings. Performing engagement or intervention as required, to defuse escalated situations.

Ensuring opening and closing duties are performed and completed daily.

Assisting in offsite outreach engagement such as, MANA House tabling events, network functions, including giving presentations as opportunities arise. Performing other duties as assigned
