Food insecurity affects many seniors, especially those with limited incomes. Accessing healthy meals or finding the energy to prepare them can be a daily struggle. That’s where Open Heart Kitchen's Senior Meal Program steps in.
We provide freshly prepared, nutritious meals specifically tailored to meet the needs of individuals aged 60 and older. Beyond nourishment, we create a welcoming communal dining environment where seniors can enjoy not just food but also meaningful social connections.
Your time and compassion can help us serve these meals and foster a sense of community, ensuring our seniors feel cared for and valued.
Volunteer Shifts:
Monday through Friday from 10:45 AM until 1:00 PM
All of OHK’s volunteer shifts must be scheduled in advance, however our schedule is flexible and there are no minimum commitments. We welcome volunteers to work alongside us weekly, monthly, or just every once in a while.

Description
Open Heart Kitchen provides equitable access to nutritious food while working toward a food-secure future. Serving the Tri-Valley, we meet immediate needs through programs like Senior Meals, Community Meals, Mobile Pop-Up Pantries (grocery distribution), Open Heart Food Bank, and Open Heart Refuge (overnight shelter operating 365 nights a year).
Our guests include seniors, the unhoused, underemployed individuals, and low-income families, all relying on us as a safety net against hunger. We are committed to addressing both the root causes of hunger and the urgent needs of our community.
