Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) is the #1 voluntary health organization in the United States for people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS, and over 300 other neuromuscular conditions. For 75 years, MDA has led the way in accelerating research, advancing care, and advocating support and inclusion of families living with neuromuscular disease. MDA's mission is to empower the people we serve to live longer, more independent lives.

Team Momentum is MDA’s nationwide endurance and movement program in which people participate in world class events, like the Boston Marathon while dedicating their miles to help transform the lives of kids and adults living with neuromuscular diseases.

  • MDA Cheer Teams: Cheer on MDA Team Momentum participants at cheer stations along the Boston Marathon course! Volunteers will be an important part of the day, cheering our participants to the finish line! Note - this is an outdoor volunteer opportunity.
    • Location 1 -
  • Newton, MA- Mile 19- majority of runners should arrive between 1:30- 2:30 PM
  • Corner of Wauwinet Rd & Commonwealth Street
  • Right before Heartbreak Hill

  • Brookline, MA- Mile 23 majority of runners should arrive between 2:30- 3:30 PM
  • MDA tent will be setup in the parking area at the Winchester St./Summit Avenue Stop on the T’s Green C line.

  • Best way to get there is to take the T or walk for those of you staying in Brookline
  • If driving, you should be able to drive on the West side of Beacon St. and park there as well

By signing up, you will be contacted by an MDA staff partner or another volunteer leader to ensure your volunteer experience is a rewarding one, while helping to fuel MDA’s mission.
