Position Summary:
H.Y.P.E. to Empower, Inc. is a dynamic, Atlanta-based nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing health disparities, reducing stigma, and empowering individuals and communities impacted by HIV/AIDS. Since its founding in 2013, H.Y.P.E. has been at the forefront of public health innovation, leveraging education, advocacy, and leadership development to promote equitable access to healthcare and improve health outcomes for marginalized populations.
We are seeking Evaluation and Grants volunteers to join our mission-driven team. This role will focus on the development, implementation, and reporting of evaluation plans while supporting grant-related activities for government, private, and corporate funders. The position offers two levels of opportunity, accommodating varying degrees of expertise and experience.
As part of H.Y.P.E.’s commitment to advancing health equity and fostering community empowerment, this position plays a critical role in ensuring the sustainability and impact of our programs. By developing robust evaluation frameworks and contributing to successful grant applications, the Evaluation and Grants Specialist will directly support H.Y.P.E.’s innovative programs like EMULATE, FIGURES, and Policy Path Prevention, which serve diverse populations across Metro Atlanta and beyond.
Level I: Entry-Level Evaluation and Grants SpecialistResponsibilities:
Evaluation Planning:
Assist in developing logic models, evaluation frameworks, and theories of change for various grants.
Support needs assessments to guide program development and funding alignment.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Design and administer basic evaluation tools, such as surveys, focus group guides, and data collection forms.
Organize and clean data from internal and external sources.
Conduct basic statistical analyses and create visual data summaries.
Grant Development:
Assist in the preparation of grant applications by providing data and evaluation sections.
Support the development of evaluation plans tailored to government, private, and corporate grants.
Collaborate with grant writers to ensure alignment between program objectives and funder requirements.
Reporting and Communication:
Contribute to evaluation reports, summarizing findings for funders and stakeholders.
Provide insights into program improvements based on evaluation results.
Collaboration:
Work closely with program staff and community partners to align evaluation and grant goals.
Participate in meetings to support cross-functional grant and evaluation tasks.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Familiarity with basic evaluation methodologies and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets).
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Evaluation Leadership:
Lead the design and implementation of advanced evaluation plans for government, private, and corporate grants.
Develop comprehensive logic models, evaluation frameworks, and measurable outcomes.
Oversee data collection processes and ensure data validity and reliability.
Data Collection and Analysis:
Conduct advanced statistical analyses using software such as SPSS, R, or Tableau.
Synthesize findings from literature reviews, community needs assessments, and program data.
Create dashboards and complex data visualizations for reporting purposes.
Grant Development and Management:
Write and contribute to detailed evaluation and data sections of grant applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align evaluation strategies with funder priorities.
Assist in developing budgets and budget narratives for grants, ensuring evaluation activities are appropriately resourced.
Reporting and Dissemination:
Draft comprehensive reports and executive summaries for funders, stakeholders, and internal use.
Present evaluation findings at conferences, workshops, and community events.
Develop materials to share program impact with diverse audiences, including funders.
Team and Stakeholder Engagement:
Train and mentor junior staff in evaluation and grant-writing practices.
Work with community stakeholders to incorporate participatory evaluation approaches.
Collaborate with funders and external partners to ensure compliance and effective communication.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in evaluation design, grant writing, and program impact analysis.
Advanced proficiency in statistical and visualization software (e.g., R, SPSS, Tableau, NVivo).
Proven experience in government, private, and corporate grant development.
Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Passion for advancing health equity and supporting marginalized communities.
Familiarity with HIV/AIDS prevention and public health strategies is a plus.

H.Y.P.E. is an HIV services and youth development advocacy organization charged with building and growing programs that empower youth ages 13-29 and affected family members to succeed individually and to become leaders. H.Y.P.E. 's mission is to empower leadership in youth, young adults, and families to transform their communities through education, health literacy, counseling, supportive services, and trainings.
Our models have helped others succeed by showing our participants how to become leaders who mentor others to transform lives, communities, and systems.
H.Y.P.E. goals are 1.) Develop programs that empower our participants to succeed. 2.) Provide the tools to cultivate individuals, who enter our program, to effectively manage their personal health, finances, and social responsibilities 3.) Provide our skills and expertise to persons, groups, organizations, and businesses who wish to utilize our model(s) in targeted areas where HIV and AIDS are at their highest. Thus, leading us to amplify their voices to become leaders and advocates in their community.
