ORGANIZATION: Sedgwick County RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program)

Time commitment: 5 to 20 Hours Monthly (Time commitment will vary month to month)

Duties: Inventory donation items, enter and track both incoming and outgoing donation information data enter in Excel Spreadsheet, picking up items from homebound volunteers and delivering to non-profits.

Requirements: 55 yrs of age; Valid Kansas Driver’s License, mileage reimbursement possible

Desired abilities/skills- Knowledge in Excel, Word, Outlook (Email), driver’s license

Physical limitation(s): Lifting 20 pounds

Location: Sedgwick County Department of Aging, 5 th floor Ronald Reagan Building

Estimated Time Allocated to Responsibilities

Inventory/Donation Tracking - Excel spreadsheet (3 hours a month)

Collect - Go out to homebound volunteers to get pick up items (5 hours every other month)

Deliver Take items to Non-Profits (3-4 hours every other month)

Calling Non-profits to see what they need, plan to drop off, gather items to take to be donated, deliver to non-profits (3 hours every other month per the schedule)

Mileage reimbursement: This is intended to support volunteers - particularly volunteers who have the desire to volunteer but might not be able to without this support. Mileage is reimbursed at .14/mile (the federal rate for volunteer miles) and is paid when mileage equals or exceeds 71 miles/month ($10) with a maximum reimbursement of $25 per month.

Supplemental insurance: AmeriCorps Seniors cover all active members, while they are volunteering, with three types of insurance, (1) excess accident medical coverage, (2) excess personal liability and (3) excess automobile liability.

Assisting seniors, caregivers and persons with disabilities to achieve improved health and greater independence.

Description

The RSVP Volunteer Program invites adults age 55 and over to use their life experience and skills to help older adults and strengthen our community in Sedgwick County. Volunteers give their time to support programming that reduces social isolation among older adults and provide nutritional support, among many other activities and initiatives. RSVP volunteers also improve and enhance the quality of the community organizations they serve. With RSVP, volunteers will receive appreciation gifts, recognition events, and may also qualify for the President's Volunteer Service Award. Active volunteers receive volunteer liability, excess automobile, and excess medical insurance to, from, and while volunteering.
