Commitment: Part-Time Volunteer Position (5-10 hours per week)
Role Overview:
The JJ Center Inc. is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Public Relations Volunteer to help us enhance our public image and increase awareness of our mission and activities. You will play a vital role in supporting our mission to alleviate hunger in the DC area by crafting compelling messages and engaging with the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Media Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with media representatives. Pitch stories about our work to secure media coverage in local news outlets, online publications, and social media platforms.
- Content Creation: Draft press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials to promote our programs and services. Create engaging social media content to raise awareness of hunger issues and our efforts to address them.
- Event Support: Assist with planning and promoting fundraising events and community outreach initiatives.
- Community Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to build relationships with community stakeholders and potential donors.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor media coverage and track the impact of our PR efforts. Prepare reports to measure the success of our communication strategies.
Qualifications:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Creativity and a passion for storytelling.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and content creation tools (a plus).
- Interest in social justice issues and a desire to make a difference in the community.
