HandsOn San Diego envisions a thriving community where everyone is empowered to be an active participant in creating positive change without barriers. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for all phases of grant seeking which includes researching grant opportunities, developing and submitting grant proposals, and tracking all grant seeking activities.

The ideal person for this role has strong written communication skills and the ability to write clear, structured, articulate and persuasive proposals. This volunteer should have an interest in grant writing.



This is a remote or hybrid opportunity. Volunteers are welcome to utilize our office space or work from where they're most comfortable! Responsibilities

Grant Research:

Research and identify grant funding opportunities by utilizing online research and grant databases

Create a grant calendar to display grant opportunities, due dates, and details

Grant Writing:

Writes and edits grant proposals

Opportunity Requirements & Important Notes

Time Commitment: Flexible, 10-15 hours/month

Onboarding Process: Application, interview, background check, and training. This process typically takes 1-2 weeks.

Required Skills/Experience: Interest in gaining experience with grant writing or a related field. Sufficient computer skills to research information and devellop an online-based tracking system for grants. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Skills/Experience: Past experience with researching, writing and submitting grant proposals is strongly preferred. Some college education along with 1-2 years of experience work nonprofits or volunteer organizations is also desired.

Location: This opportunity takes place remotely with an opportunity to utilize our office space.
