Software Development Co-Lead (Remote/Unpaid Volunteer):

Join Empowered Futures as a Software Development Co-Lead and become a key part of our futuristic and innovative organization dedicated to empowering emerging adults as they transition into adulthood.

At Empowered Futures, we are dedicated to creating confident, emotionally intelligent, and resourceful adults through self-empowerment, business mentorship, and unwavering support, to help them build their capability and reap their full potential.

This volunteer position offers a unique opportunity to utilize your skills and contribute to making a significant impact on individuals' lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee software projects from conception through implementation, ensuring alignment with company Empowered Futures’ goals and timelines

  • Conduct regular code reviews, identify discrepancies, and recommend enhancements to codebase

  • Work closely with the board and tech leads to strategize roadmaps aligned with Empowered Futures’ objectives

  • Liaise cross-functionally with other committee leads to optimize efficiencies and coordinate deliverables, such as QA and UX

  • Manage team with diverse skills and backgrounds to foster an innovative and inclusive team-oriented environment

  • Co-facilitate and attend regular team meetings to review progress and address challenges

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Development, or another related field is an asset

  • Strong expertise in frontend and backend frameworks - particularly JavaScript, React.js, NodeJS, and ExpressJS

  • Experience and knowledge in Typescript and GraphQL is an asset

  • Proven experience managing teams, with refined leadership and interpersonal skills

  • Extensive knowledge of current technology trends, products, and project management methodologies
